Moberly, Missouri – Drivers in north central Missouri have hours before wet snow begins falling at 6 p.m. Sunday, creating slick pavement through the Monday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Monday for Chariton and Randolph counties. Forecasters expect up to 1 inch of combined snow and sleet, enough to make untreated roads slippery overnight.

In Moberly, Salisbury, Brunswick and Keytesville, rain may briefly mix in before transitioning to wet snow after sunset. Temperatures hovering near freezing will allow accumulation on bridges and overpasses first, especially along U.S. 63 and Route 24. Rural county roads could become slick before midnight as snowfall continues at a light but steady rate.

MoDOT encourages drivers to slow down, increase following distance and check real-time conditions at traveler.modot.org before heading out early Monday. Even minor accumulations can reduce traction during peak commute hours.

Snow should taper after sunrise Monday, but icy spots may linger past 9 a.m. if temperatures remain near freezing. Additional updates are possible if bands of heavier snow develop overnight.
