Waukesha, WI – Snow is spreading across southeast Wisconsin, turning roads slick from Beaver Dam to Brookfield as steady bands move through Saturday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Dodge, Jefferson, Washington and Waukesha counties until 8 p.m. Saturday. Forecasters expect 2 to 4 inches of accumulation, with locally higher totals possible under heavier bursts.
The snow is affecting major travel corridors including Interstate 94 between Madison and Milwaukee, Highway 45 near West Bend, and Highway 26 through Watertown and Fort Atkinson. Neighborhood streets in Menomonee Falls, Germantown, Muskego and Hartford are becoming snow-covered as temperatures hover below freezing.
Drivers should reduce speeds, increase following distance and allow extra time for the evening commute. Wisconsin DOT officials urge motorists to check 511 for real-time road conditions and consider delaying non-essential trips. Plow crews are working, but snowfall rates could briefly outpace clearing efforts.
Snow intensity should diminish toward mid to late evening, though untreated roads may remain icy overnight. Additional advisories could be issued if heavier bands persist beyond sunset.
