Belmont, Ohio – A Martins Ferry man was arrested after police allegedly found narcotics inside a Walnut Street apartment early Friday morning, prompting child welfare notification.

According to Martins Ferry Police Chief Vince West, officers executed a search warrant at an apartment on Walnut Street with assistance from Bridgeport Police and Belmont County Sheriff’s deputies.

Police say they discovered what they described as substantial amounts of narcotics, along with materials allegedly used for packaging and distribution.

Kylil Bass, 28, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held in the Belmont County Jail. Authorities allege the narcotics were located in his room inside the apartment.

Chief West said the investigation was partly driven by tips from neighbors who reported suspicious activity, including frequent traffic at the residence. He encouraged residents to continue reporting similar concerns, emphasizing that community information can support ongoing enforcement efforts.

Officers also reported that two children under the age of 10 were present inside the home during the search. Belmont County Children’s Services was notified following the raid.

The case remains under investigation. Authorities have not released additional details about the type or quantity of narcotics allegedly recovered.

The arrest highlights continued drug enforcement efforts in Martins Ferry and surrounding Belmont County communities, particularly in residential neighborhoods.
