Walkertown, NC – Four people were charged after deputies discovered multiple dogs living in deteriorating conditions inside a Walkertown home, prompting an animal cruelty investigation.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, investigators were serving a warrant on an unrelated matter Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at a residence in the 6000 block of Cain Forest Drive when they found several dogs with health concerns inside the home.

The Forsyth County Animal Services Division was requested to assist with the investigation and took custody of the dogs for transport to the Forsyth County Animal Shelter.

As a result of the conditions allegedly found inside the residence, four occupants were charged.

Belinda Dawn Meyer, 58, of Walkertown, was charged with nine felony counts of cruelty to animals under N.C.G.S. 14-360.

Jonathan Shane Meyer, 31, of Walkertown, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals under N.C.G.S. 14-360.

Charles Edward Devore, 46, of Walkertown, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals under N.C.G.S. 14-360.

Virginia Kathleen Newton, 30, of Walkertown, was charged with one misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals under N.C.G.S. 14-360.
