New Albany, IN – A Georgetown man was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop uncovered suspected drugs, a handgun and a stolen license plate.
According to Indiana State Police–Sellersburg, a trooper stopped a green Honda around 2:55 p.m. on Daisy Lane after recognizing the vehicle as belonging to Chad Steven Farnsley, 52, of Georgetown. Police said Farnsley had active arrest warrants out of Harrison County for alleged probation violations related to prior drug charges.
State police confirmed the warrants were valid at the time of the stop. Authorities said Farnsley complied with commands during the felony stop and was taken into custody without incident. Trooper Pyne McMahel arrived to assist.
During a subsequent investigation, troopers allegedly discovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a license plate reported stolen in New Albany in November 2025, and a handgun with ammunition.
Farnsley faces preliminary charges including possession of methamphetamine with an enhancement, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, theft with a prior conviction, habitual offender enhancement, and misdemeanor counts of marijuana and paraphernalia possession.
He was transported to the Floyd County Jail.
The arrest follows ongoing enforcement efforts targeting narcotics and firearm violations in southern Indiana, a region intersected by major commuter routes between Floyd and Harrison counties.
