Milwaukee, Wisconsin – A widespread swath of light to moderate snow is expected to move into southern Wisconsin Saturday morning, bringing 1 to 3 inches of accumulation and locally up to 4 inches along and north of I-94 by early evening.

Snow is forecast to spread into the region between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday, becoming more steady by midday. The heaviest snowfall rates are most likely during the afternoon hours, which could create slick travel conditions across Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha counties.

A narrow band of moderate snow may develop somewhere near or just north of the Interstate 94 corridor, potentially producing localized totals approaching 4 inches. However, slight shifts in the storm track could alter where the highest amounts occur. Motorists along I-43, I-41 and US-45 should be prepared for reduced visibility and snow-covered roads during peak travel times.

Road conditions may deteriorate quickly once snowfall intensifies, especially on bridges and overpasses. While this is not expected to be a major winter storm, the timing during daylight hours could impact errands, weekend events and afternoon travel.

Snow is expected to taper off from west to east late Saturday afternoon into early evening, generally between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Lingering slick spots may remain into Saturday night as temperatures cool.

Drivers are urged to allow extra stopping distance and check updated road conditions before heading out. Additional forecast updates may refine snowfall placement and totals as the system approaches.
