Fort Worth, Texas – Temperatures running 15 to 20 degrees above normal will push highs into the upper 80s Saturday, creating early-season heat stress along I-35W and I-20 before a slight storm chance brushes parts of North Texas late Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, unseasonably warm conditions will persist through the weekend with afternoon highs climbing into the 80s across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. South winds of 10 to 15 mph, with gusts near 20 mph Saturday, will add a breezy feel and elevate grass fire concerns in areas that remain dry.
Communities including Arlington, Denton, Plano and Weatherford will see sunshine dominate through Saturday evening. Drivers along Loop 820 and State Highway 183 should secure loose outdoor items and remain cautious of crosswinds on elevated roadways. The combination of warmth and wind may dry grasses quickly, increasing the risk of roadside fires.
By Sunday afternoon, a weak cold front approaches North Texas. Most of the region will remain dry, but areas along the Red River, including Sherman and Paris, could see isolated showers or a brief thunderstorm. Rain chances remain low, near 20 to 30 percent, and widespread impacts are not expected.
Residents planning outdoor activities should stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing and monitor for changing conditions late Sunday. Warm weather continues into early next week, and additional updates will follow if rain coverage increases across North Texas.
