Toledo, Ohio-Michigan Border – Snow could begin sticking to roads along I-75 and the Ohio Turnpike by 6 a.m. Sunday, with a 30 to 50 percent chance that at least 2 inches accumulates across northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan before 6 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, a developing winter system moving east late Saturday night through Sunday night is expected to place the Michigan-Ohio border region in a corridor favorable for accumulating snow. The highest probabilities for 2 inches or more currently center on Toledo, Perrysburg and Bowling Green in Ohio, extending north into Monroe and Adrian in Michigan. Minor shifts in the storm track could push heavier totals closer to the Lake Erie shoreline or farther inland toward Ann Arbor.

If steady snowfall develops during the Sunday morning travel window, visibility could drop below one mile in heavier bands. Elevated roadways, including interchanges along I-475 and bridges over the Maumee River, may become slick first as surface temperatures hover near freezing.

ODOT and the Michigan Department of Transportation are monitoring pavement temperatures and staging plow crews ahead of potential impacts. Road conditions could deteriorate quickly if snowfall rates intensify during peak travel hours.

Residents should plan for slower commutes, check tire tread and allow extra stopping distance. Winter weather advisories may be issued by Saturday as confidence increases in snowfall placement and totals through early Monday morning.
