Sterling, Colo. – A grass fire near Highway 113 in Logan County drew multiple agencies Wednesday, prompting evacuation guidance for nearby residents.
According to the Sterling Fire Department, local and regional resources responded to what officials described as a large grass fire in the area of Highway 113 near milepost 12. The department said at least 12 residences are in the area and residents were encouraged to evacuate if they believed they were “in the front” of the fire.
Officials did not immediately release an estimated acreage, containment status, or the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported in the initial public update, and no structure damage was confirmed.
The National Weather Service office serving Denver and Boulder shared the incident alert publicly, amplifying the fire department’s message as crews worked the scene.
Residents in and around the Highway 113 corridor were urged to stay alert for official emergency notifications from Logan County. Authorities did not provide specific evacuation routes in the initial message, and drivers were advised to use caution near the response area due to the potential for smoke, emergency vehicles, and changing fire conditions.
