LAS VEGAS — Nevada’s open records framework allows public access to many filings, but certain documents are restricted under privacy limits.

Residents in Clark County have access to court records and documents under the Nevada Public Records Act (NRS Chapter 239). These records include government and court records, including juvenile proceedings sealed to the public.

Publicly accessible documents include:

  • Court records processed through the Clark County District Court and Justice Courts
  • Property records
  • Tax records
  • Voting and election records
  • Law enforcement records
  • Land use and zoning records

To access documents and records, residents must request them through the county’s various online portals. For example, court records can be accessed via the Justice Court Records Inquiry system and the District Court case search. Vehicle and driver records can be requested through the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles. Criminal case information can be accessed through the Clark County District Court Criminal Division.

Under NRS 239.010, government agencies must provide free inspection of public records, though they may charge fees for copies.

While the county uses a free public access framework, certain documents are not publicly available, including:

  • Sealed court records
  • Child welfare records
  • Ongoing investigations
  • Medical records
  • Personal identifying information
  • Trade secrets
  • Adoption records

Access to these records will generally require statutory authorization.
