Washington, District of Columbia – Snow continues across the higher elevations west of Interstate 81 this morning, while areas east of Interstate 95 see more clouds than sun and temperatures ranging from the upper 30s to upper 50s.
According to the US National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, lingering snow showers will persist over the mountains early Wednesday, with only isolated flurries or sprinkles possible farther east into southern Maryland. Accumulations are expected to remain confined to higher terrain, with minimal impact in metro corridors.
High temperatures Wednesday will reach the mid-40s to mid-50s east of the mountains, including Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis. Drivers along I-95, I-495 and U.S. Route 50 should expect dry but cloudy conditions for much of the day.
Attention then turns to Thursday, when widespread shower chances increase across the region. Rain is expected to develop along and south of the Interstate 66 and U.S. Route 50 corridors before spreading more broadly. Highs Thursday are forecast in the upper 30s to low 50s depending on elevation and cloud cover.
Forecasters indicate drier weather will return Friday into the weekend, with moderating temperatures and improving travel conditions.
Commuters using I-270, I-70 and I-95 should monitor for wet roadways during Thursday’s rainfall, especially during peak travel periods.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated with the latest forecasts as precipitation timing and coverage become more refined.
