Oswego, New York – Snow will continue to stack up across Central New York through the night, with up to 8 inches expected in parts of Oswego County and the Tug Hill Plateau before daybreak Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Oswego and Lewis counties until 7 a.m. Thursday. Several rounds of snow will move through Wednesday, followed by more localized lake effect bands tonight into early Thursday. The most persistent bands are expected across northern Oswego County and higher elevations of Tug Hill.

Snow will fall in batches, with brief lulls between steadier periods. Even so, roads can quickly turn snow covered as temperatures remain cold enough for accumulation. Visibility may drop under a half mile in heavier lake effect bursts, especially along Route 104 near Oswego and Route 12 through Lowville and the Tug Hill region.

The Wednesday morning and evening commutes will both see impacts, with slick conditions lingering into early Thursday. Drivers should slow down, leave extra space between vehicles and allow additional travel time.

Advisories remain in place through early Thursday morning, and localized heavier bands could shift overnight as lake effect snow continues.
