Friday afternoon highs will reach the upper 40s to lower 50s along major roadways including I-64 and I-85.
A notable warmup is forecast for Saturday, with many communities climbing into the 60s. The mildest readings are expected across central and southeastern Virginia.
Forecasters are also monitoring the potential for a backdoor cold front Sunday, which may bring cooler temperatures, along with another possible winter weather system early next week.
The shifting conditions may affect weekend travelers and those commuting along I-95 and US-58 corridors.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as timing and rainfall totals become clearer.
