Cleveland, Ohio – Drivers across northwest Pennsylvania are navigating slick roads early Tuesday, and a second, faster burst of snow is set to arrive tonight with up to 5 inches in less than six hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. EST this morning for Crawford and southern Erie counties, including Meadville, Corry, Union City and Titusville. Lake-enhanced snow tied to a Lake Huron connection is producing an additional 1 to 2 inches, especially in higher elevations southeast of Interstate 90.
A second advisory takes effect at 7 p.m. Tuesday and continues until 1 p.m. Wednesday. A clipper system will bring 2 to 5 inches of snow, primarily south of I-90 and east of I-79. Most of the accumulation is expected overnight, reducing visibility and covering untreated roads before the Wednesday morning commute.
PennDOT officials urge motorists to slow down and delay unnecessary travel. Roads along I-79, Route 322 and secondary highways may become snow covered quickly during heavier bursts.
Drivers should check 511PA for updated travel conditions and prepare for rapidly changing visibility late tonight. Additional advisories may be issued if snowfall rates intensify.
