Winchester, Idaho – Wet snow is coating higher elevation roads across the Camas Prairie overnight, with up to 3 inches expected before 11 a.m. Tuesday, creating slick travel for early morning drivers.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Tuesday for the higher elevations of Lewis and southern Nez Perce counties, including Winchester, Craigmont, Nezperce and along Soldiers Meadow Road. Snow totals could reach 3 inches, especially on hilltops and exposed stretches.

Elevated roadways and rural routes across the prairie may turn slushy or snow-covered before daybreak. Untreated surfaces could become slick quickly as wet snow continues to fall through the morning hours. School bus routes and agricultural traffic along county roads may encounter reduced traction.

Drivers should slow down, increase following distance and check Idaho 511 for updated road conditions before traveling. Snow will taper late Tuesday morning, but patchy slush may linger into midday as temperatures hover near freezing.
