Miami, FL – Temperatures falling into the 30s across interior South Florida could damage crops and sensitive vegetation before sunrise Tuesday, especially west of I-95 and along US-1 corridors where cold air is settling in overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a Freeze Warning remains in effect from 3AM until 9AM Tuesday for Glades, Hendry, and inland Collier counties. A Cold Weather Advisory covers inland Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and portions of Collier County during the same timeframe. Forecasters expect lows in the lower to middle 30s across interior Southwest Florida, with wind chills dipping into the mid-20s in advisory areas.

Communities including Immokalee, Clewiston, LaBelle, and areas along I-75 could briefly touch freezing. Sensitive agriculture in Hendry and Glades counties faces the greatest risk. Farther east, metro areas from Miami to West Palm Beach will remain above freezing but still drop into the upper 30s to near 40 degrees before daybreak.

Light winds and clear skies are allowing temperatures to fall quickly overnight. While major interstates including I-95 and Florida’s Turnpike are not expected to see ice formation, motorists may notice patchy ground fog in rural interior sections.

Residents should protect tender plants, bring pets indoors, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Agricultural interests should complete freeze protection measures before 3AM.

Temperatures rebound quickly after sunrise Tuesday, climbing into the 60s by afternoon. However, the coldest readings occur before 9AM, and additional advisories could be issued if temperatures trend lower overnight.
