Ohio wakes up under steady lake-effect snow, and plows are already scraping slushy lanes across Cleveland. Snow showers sweep in off Lake Erie, dusting rooftops and coating secondary roads. Temperatures hover near 31 degrees, and northwest winds gust near 35 mph, pushing wind chills into the teens. Visibility drops at times, especially along I-90 and the Shoreway.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Tuesday. Additional snowfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected in parts of Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties. Higher terrain in eastern Cuyahoga and northern Geauga counties could see locally higher totals. Roads may remain snow covered and slick through the day.

Snow showers continue into the afternoon with patchy blowing snow reducing visibility. Plan for slower travel and allow extra braking distance. The Ohio Department of Transportation urges drivers to limit unnecessary trips while crews treat highways.

Conditions gradually improve Tuesday with partial sunshine and highs near 37 degrees. Another round of snow develops Tuesday night with an 80 percent chance of accumulation, though totals stay under an inch. Wednesday turns colder again with a slight snow chance and highs near 39.

Thursday brings another 50 percent chance of snow before quieter weather settles in Friday. Highs climb into the lower 40s by the end of the week, and early 6-to-10-day trends hint at moderating temperatures into early March.
