Pittsburgh, PA – Snow will continue to spread across western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia overnight, creating slick roads before the Monday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Tuesday for Jefferson, Westmoreland, Fayette and Indiana counties in Pennsylvania, along with Marion and Monongalia counties in West Virginia. Total snowfall between 2 and 4 inches is expected across the region.
Roads including I-70 near New Stanton, U.S. 119 through Uniontown, U.S. 22 near Murrysville and I-79 around Morgantown may become snow-covered overnight. Secondary roads in communities such as Greensburg, Latrobe, Brookville and Fairmont could turn slippery, especially on bridges and untreated surfaces.
Periods of steady light snow may reduce visibility at times, particularly during heavier bursts early Monday. The Monday morning commute faces the highest risk for slow travel as plow crews work to clear primary routes.
Drivers should allow extra time, increase following distance and monitor PennDOT and WV 511 for real-time updates. Snow showers may linger into Monday evening before tapering, but slick spots could persist into early Tuesday while the advisory remains in place.
