Cross Lanes, West Virginia – Authorities are seeking help identifying two suspects accused of stealing ammunition and other firearm-related merchandise from a local retailer.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Rural King store in Cross Lanes. Deputies said a white male with a beard and a Black female wearing a camouflage hat allegedly entered the store and helped themselves to ammunition and other firearm-related items.

Investigators said the female allegedly put on a pair of Lincoln Outfitters boots inside the store and walked out wearing them.

Loss prevention officers confronted the male suspect and recovered some of the stolen property before he allegedly became aggressive with employees and fled with additional concealed merchandise, authorities said. Deputies reported that $469.92 worth of merchandise was recovered from the male before he left the scene.

It is unclear whether the suspects fled on foot or in a vehicle.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to contact Sgt. Coleman at 304-357-0169 or submit a tip through the agency’s website.

The case remains under investigation. Retail theft incidents can affect local businesses and employees, particularly in high-traffic retail corridors like Cross Lanes.
