Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania – Snow will rapidly cover roads across the Poconos by Sunday evening, with wind gusts up to 50 mph reducing visibility to near zero at times. Travel along Interstate 80 and Route 33 could become nearly impossible before midnight as steady snowfall intensifies.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Blizzard Warning remains in effect for Carbon and Monroe counties until 6 p.m. Monday. Rain will change to all snow late Sunday afternoon, with totals ranging from 8 to 16 inches. Snowfall rates may exceed 1 inch per hour overnight, and locally higher totals are possible in elevated terrain.

Across northeast Pennsylvania, blowing and drifting snow will create hazardous conditions on secondary roads from Jim Thorpe to Stroudsburg. PennDOT crews will work to clear highways, but strong winds may quickly recover treated surfaces. Tree limbs could snap under heavy snow and gusty winds, leading to isolated power outages.

The most severe impacts will hit during the Monday morning commute and could linger into the evening drive. Officials urge residents to restrict travel to emergencies only, keep phones charged and have flashlights and blankets ready. Drivers can check updated road conditions by calling 511.

Snow will gradually taper during the day Monday, but gusty winds may continue to whip snow across open stretches of highway into the afternoon. The Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Monday, and additional advisories could follow if conditions worsen overnight.
