Atlantic City, New Jersey – Heavy snow and 55 mph wind gusts will turn shore roads into whiteout zones by late Sunday evening, with travel expected to become nearly impossible through 6 p.m. Monday. Snowfall rates could exceed 2 inches per hour overnight, quickly covering the Atlantic City Expressway and Route 9.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Blizzard Warning remains in effect for Atlantic, Cape May, Coastal Atlantic and Atlantic Coastal Cape May counties. Rain may briefly mix in early Sunday evening before changing to all snow. Total accumulation between 15 and 22 inches is expected, with locally higher amounts possible as intense bands pivot across the coast.

Across southern New Jersey, strong onshore winds will whip snow across bridges and cause significant drifting on the Garden State Parkway and barrier island roadways in Ocean City and Cape May. Gusts up to 55 mph could bring down tree limbs and lead to scattered power outages in communities from Hammonton to Cape May Court House.

The most dangerous conditions will hit during the Monday morning and evening commutes. Officials urge residents to avoid non-essential travel, charge electronic devices and prepare for potential power disruptions. Drivers can check the latest road conditions by calling 511.

Snow will taper during the day Monday, but blowing snow may continue reducing visibility into the evening. The Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Monday, and additional advisories could follow if conditions intensify overnight.
