Cleveland, Ohio – Lake-enhanced snow will develop along the Lake Erie shoreline after 6 p.m. Sunday, setting up slick roads and reduced visibility before the Monday morning commute. Snow bands are expected to intensify overnight, with the heaviest bursts likely early Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday for Erie and Huron counties in Ohio, and until 1 a.m. Tuesday for Cuyahoga, Lorain, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula Inland, Medina, Summit and Ashtabula Lakeshore counties. Total snowfall between 2 and 5 inches is expected, with wind gusts up to 35 mph Monday. In northwest Pennsylvania, advisories run from 10 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Tuesday for Crawford and Northern Erie counties, where 3 to 6 inches could fall near Erie.
Across north central and northeast Ohio, snow-covered stretches of Interstate 90, Interstate 271 and the Ohio Turnpike may become slippery, especially during heavier lake-effect bands Monday morning. Bridges and overpasses will be particularly prone to icing.
The most hazardous travel conditions will impact both the Monday morning and evening commutes. Officials urge drivers to slow down and check OHGO or 511PA for the latest road conditions.
Snow showers will gradually diminish Monday night, but slick spots may linger into early Tuesday morning before advisories expire.
