Oneonta, New York – Snow-covered roads and drifting could make travel nearly impossible across parts of upstate New York and northeastern Pennsylvania through 7 p.m. Monday as up to 15 inches piles up.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. Monday for Otsego and Delaware counties in New York and Susquehanna, Northern Wayne and Wyoming counties in Pennsylvania. Total snowfall between 7 and 15 inches is expected, with north-northwest wind gusts reaching 35 mph late Sunday night into Monday.
In Oneonta and Delhi, steady snow will continue to cover Route 28 and Interstate 88, especially during the Monday morning commute. In Pennsylvania, roads such as Route 6 near Tunkhannock and Interstate 81 near Hallstead and Montrose may see blowing and drifting snow reduce visibility and create slick conditions. Winds increasing overnight will cause localized whiteouts in open and elevated areas.
Officials urge drivers to delay unnecessary travel. If you must head out, carry extra food, water and a flashlight. In New York, motorists can call 511 for the latest road conditions. In Pennsylvania, check 511PA for travel restrictions and updates.
Snow and blowing snow will gradually ease late Monday, but icy spots could linger into the evening hours.
