Nevada’s high desert is biting cold this morning, with Reno waking up to a frigid 26 degrees under mostly clear skies. The air feels sharp and dry, and frost clings to windshields across neighborhoods from Sparks to northwest Reno. Early drivers along Interstate 80 should watch for isolated slick spots in shaded areas.

Highs climb to near 49 degrees this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Winds stay light, offering some relief from the early chill. Still, the deep morning freeze reminds us Winter is not finished yet.

Tonight, temperatures fall back to around 26 degrees under partly cloudy skies. That sets the stage for another hard freeze by daybreak. Any lingering moisture could refreeze, creating patchy icy stretches on bridges and overpasses. This is prime time for brief flash freezing in colder valleys.

Monday brings mostly sunny skies and a milder high near 54 degrees. Changes arrive Monday night with a slight chance of rain after 4 a.m. Snow levels remain well above the valley floor, between 7,400 and 8,800 feet.

By Tuesday, February 24th, rain becomes likely with highs near 56 degrees and breezy southwest winds. Showers continue into Tuesday night before tapering Wednesday. Highs reach near 59 Wednesday with partial sunshine returning.

The extended 6–10 day outlook hints at above-normal temperatures building late week into next weekend. Signs of early Spring Warmth could push highs into the 60s by Thursday and Friday.
