California’s north coast is rattling under gusty winds this morning, with rain sweeping across Eureka and waves pounding exposed headlands. Temperatures hover near 53 degrees, but it’s the wind that demands attention right now.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Gusts up to 50 mph are possible along windward ridges and coastal headlands. Southeast winds between 25 and 35 mph will make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles on U.S. 101 and across open stretches near Humboldt Bay.

Rain continues through today with highs near 62 degrees. Breezy conditions persist into the afternoon before gradually easing. However, the next concern builds quickly.

A Flood Watch takes effect Monday evening and runs through Tuesday evening. Periods of moderate to heavy rain could trigger excessive runoff. Forecasters warn of rising creeks, ponding on roads and an increased risk of rock and landslides along coastal highways and mountain routes. Rainfall may total over an inch in some areas by Tuesday night.

By Tuesday, February 24th, rain chances remain near 100 percent with highs in the upper 50s. Showers taper to scattered activity Wednesday, though damp ground may prolong minor flooding issues.

Looking ahead, the broader 6–10 day outlook hints at slightly drier breaks and modest warming late week into next weekend, though additional systems remain possible.
