Stevens Pass, WA – Snow will begin piling up by 10 p.m. Sunday across Western Chelan County, with bursts reaching 1 inch per hour overnight and creating hazardous conditions for the Monday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday for Holden Village, Stevens Pass and Stehekin. Forecasters expect 2 to 8 inches of total accumulation, with a 40 to 60 percent chance that snowfall rates briefly hit 1 inch per hour.

Stevens Pass will likely see the most significant travel impacts as steady snow covers lanes and reduces visibility. Mountain routes near Holden Village and the remote Stehekin Valley may also become slick and snow-packed before daybreak Monday. Even short bursts of heavier snowfall can quickly overwhelm plows and create chain requirements.

Drivers planning overnight or early morning travel through the Cascades should prepare for reduced visibility and slower traffic. Allow extra time, carry traction devices and check updated road conditions at wsdot.wa.gov/travel before departing.

Snow intensity should ease after 10 a.m. Monday, but slick pavement may linger into midday. Additional advisories could be issued if heavier bands develop overnight.
