Biloxi, Mississippi – Wind gusts up to 40 mph are pushing across the Mississippi Gulf Coast this morning, creating hazardous travel on exposed roadways and bridges through 3 p.m. Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans, a Wind Advisory remains in effect for Southern Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties in Mississippi, along with Southeast St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana. Sustained north winds between 15 and 25 mph will continue through the early afternoon, with peak gusts reaching 35 to 40 mph.
Along U.S. 90, Interstate 10 and the Biloxi Bay Bridge, drivers of high-profile vehicles such as box trucks and RVs may experience sudden crosswinds. Coastal cities including Gulfport, Pascagoula, Bay St. Louis and Ocean Springs could see unsecured outdoor objects blown into streets and yards. Tree limbs may snap under repeated gusts, and isolated power outages are possible, particularly in areas with weakened trees.
In Slidell and across southeast St. Tammany Parish, winds will remain strongest late this morning before gradually easing after 3 p.m. Residents should secure trash cans, patio furniture and lightweight decorations immediately.
Conditions are expected to improve later this afternoon, but breezy weather may persist into the evening. Additional statements could follow if wind speeds remain elevated along the coast.
