Albany, New York – Snow will move into southern Saratoga County by 10 p.m. Sunday, coating roads overnight and creating hazardous travel through Monday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday until 7 p.m. Monday for southern Saratoga County. Total snowfall between 3 and 7 inches is expected, with wind gusts up to 35 mph leading to areas of blowing snow.
Communities including Clifton Park, Ballston Spa, Mechanicville, Waterford and Burnt Hills could wake up to snow-covered roads Monday morning. Interstate 87, Route 9 and Route 50 may become slick before daybreak as snowfall rates increase. Blowing snow on open stretches of the Northway could briefly lower visibility, especially during heavier bursts.
Both the Monday morning and evening commutes are likely to be impacted as snow continues through the afternoon. Drivers should reduce speed, allow extra stopping distance and plan additional travel time.
Snow tapers toward Monday evening, but patchy blowing snow may linger until winds ease. Additional updates could follow if snowfall amounts trend higher.
