Atlantic City, New Jersey – Travel across coastal and central New Jersey could become impossible within hours Sunday as 50 mph wind gusts and up to 24 inches of snow create whiteout conditions through Monday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, Blizzard Warnings are in effect from 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday for much of coastal and central New Jersey, Kent County in Delaware and parts of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Snow totals will range from 9 to 24 inches, with the highest amounts expected in Ocean, Monmouth and southeastern Burlington counties. Wind gusts between 45 and 50 mph will drive heavy blowing and drifting snow.

Statewide impacts will stretch along the Interstate 95 corridor and across shore communities. In Atlantic City, Ocean City and Cape May, snowfall rates could intensify Sunday afternoon as winds whip across barrier islands. Inland, areas including Trenton, New Brunswick, Morristown, Camden and Dover could see 16 to 20 inches, with roads like the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike and I-295 turning snow-packed and impassable.

Officials urge residents to restrict travel to emergencies only. Whiteout conditions may develop Sunday night into Monday, impacting both commutes. Keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle and monitor 511 systems for real-time road closures. Blizzard warnings remain in effect until 6 p.m. Monday, and additional outages or closures are likely as winds peak.
