Rochester, NY – Scattered snow showers could bring up to 1 inch of accumulation across western New York today, creating slick stretches along Interstate 90 and surrounding roadways.

According to the US National Weather Service in Buffalo, a return to typical late February temperatures follows a recent cold front, with snow showers and flurries expected through the afternoon.

Additional accumulations are expected to remain minor, generally around an inch in areas that experience steadier snow. However, untreated road surfaces may become slippery where snow briefly accumulates.

Communities including Buffalo, Rochester, Lockport, Batavia, and Jamestown could see intermittent light snow during the day. High temperatures are forecast to remain in the 30s, supporting occasional accumulation on colder surfaces.

Travel impacts are expected to be limited but may be noticeable on bridges, overpasses, and secondary roads. Sections of I-90 between Buffalo and Rochester, I-86 near Jamestown, and I-490 in Rochester could experience brief slick spots during heavier bursts of snow.

Visibility reductions are possible in localized snow showers, particularly during the afternoon.

While widespread travel disruptions are not anticipated, drivers should use caution, especially where pavement temperatures remain below freezing.

Late-day commuters may encounter patchy snow-covered surfaces before conditions improve this evening.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for any changes in snow intensity or coverage.
