Columbus, OH – Snow will return to central and southwest Ohio this weekend, with up to 2 inches possible Sunday along Interstate 71 and surrounding roadways.

According to the US National Weather Service in Wilmington, mostly quiet conditions are expected through today before light snow showers develop Saturday evening, primarily along and southeast of I-71. Minor accumulations are possible with this first round.

A more widespread area of snow is forecast to arrive Sunday morning and continue through Sunday night. Forecasters expect general snowfall totals between 1 and 2 inches across much of the region, with slightly higher amounts possible near central Ohio and lower totals closer to the Tri-State area near Cincinnati.

Communities including Columbus, Dayton, Wilmington, and Chillicothe may see steady light snow during the day Sunday, with accumulation continuing into the evening hours.

Roadways such as I-71 between Columbus and Cincinnati, I-75 near Dayton, and US-35 east of Dayton could become slick, especially on bridges and untreated surfaces.

While snowfall totals are not expected to be heavy, temperatures near or below freezing may allow snow to accumulate on roads during periods of steady precipitation.

Drivers planning Sunday travel should allow extra time and be prepared for changing road conditions, particularly during the afternoon and evening.

Early Monday commuters could encounter leftover slick spots if temperatures remain below freezing overnight.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates in case snowfall totals shift or advisories are issued.
