Green Bay, WI – Light snow and flurries this weekend could bring up to 2 inches in parts of northeast Wisconsin, creating slick travel along US-41 and Interstate 39.
According to the US National Weather Service in Green Bay, occasional light snow is expected through Saturday and Sunday, with most areas seeing only a few tenths of an inch. However, localized lake effect snow may bring higher totals in some counties.
Vilas County could see between 1 and 2 inches due to lake effect bands, while Door County may receive around 1 inch. Other communities across far north-central and northeast Wisconsin are forecast to receive lighter amounts.
High temperatures are expected to range from the upper teens to low 30s through the weekend, with colder highs in the 15 to 25 degree range by Monday.
While snowfall totals are relatively minor, untreated roads may become slippery, particularly during early morning and evening hours when temperatures are lowest. Areas most likely to see slick stretches include portions of I-39 near Wausau, US-8 near Rhinelander, and WI-42 through Door County.
Lake effect snow showers may briefly reduce visibility in northern counties.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down on bridges and overpasses, where surfaces cool more quickly and may refreeze overnight.
Although widespread travel disruptions are not expected, brief snow showers could impact local commutes and weekend travel plans.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts for any changes in snowfall coverage or intensity.
