Lewisburg, WV – Snow showers are expected to bring up to 4 inches of accumulation across western Greenbrier County and Summers County through Monday night, potentially impacting travel along Interstate 64 and Interstate 77.
According to the US National Weather Service in Blacksburg, snow will begin tonight and become more pronounced Sunday evening into Monday. The highest snowfall totals are forecast in the mountains of western Greenbrier County, where several inches are possible at higher elevations.
Summers County and areas near Beckley and Bluefield may see between 2 and 4 inches, particularly along elevated stretches of I-77 and US-460. Farther east into the Blue Ridge and central Virginia Piedmont, a dusting to 1 inch is possible.
Gusty northwest winds may produce areas of blowing snow, reducing visibility at times, especially along mountain passes and open ridgelines.
Roads in western Greenbrier and Summers counties are expected to become snow-covered and slick, with periods of heavier snow showers lowering visibility Sunday night into early Monday.
Snow showers are forecast to taper off by Monday night.
Drivers along I-64 near Lewisburg, I-81 near Wytheville, and US-460 near Blacksburg should prepare for changing road conditions, particularly overnight and during the Monday morning commute.
Early-shift workers and school transportation services in higher elevations may experience delays if heavier snow bands develop.
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates and use caution when traveling in affected mountain areas.
