Orlando, FL – Near-record highs around 88 degrees and increasing rip current risks are expected Saturday across east central Florida, with showers and a strong cold front moving through Sunday along the I-4 and I-95 corridors.

According to the US National Weather Service in Melbourne, dry and very warm conditions will dominate Saturday, with afternoon highs reaching the mid to upper 80s. Orlando and Sanford are forecast to reach near 88 degrees, while Daytona Beach could climb to 87 degrees and Melbourne to 84 degrees.

Beach hazards include an elevated rip current risk along the Atlantic Coast, including areas near Daytona Beach, Cocoa Beach, and Vero Beach.

A cold front will move through the region Sunday, bringing scattered showers and possibly a lightning storm ahead of the boundary. High temperatures Sunday are expected to range from the mid-70s north to near 80 degrees south before colder air arrives.

Behind the front, a sharp temperature drop is forecast Sunday night into early next week. Low temperatures Tuesday morning could fall to 32 degrees in Daytona Beach and Leesburg, 35 degrees in Orlando, and near 31 degrees in Okeechobee.

Northwest winds will increase behind the front Sunday into Monday, reinforcing cooler conditions across central Florida.

Drivers along I-4, Florida’s Turnpike, and I-95 may encounter brief reduced visibility in showers Sunday, followed by gusty winds and falling temperatures into Monday.

Commuters, beachgoers, and early-morning workers should prepare for rapid weather changes over the next 48 hours.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and follow local advisories.
