Massachusetts – Light flakes drift across Logan Airport this morning, but a far more intense round of snow is lining up offshore and could hammer eastern Massachusetts by Monday. A Winter Storm Watch and Coastal Flood Watch now stretch across the Boston area as a strengthening coastal low targets New England.

According to the National Weather Service in Norton, snow becomes more organized Sunday night, then turns heavy Monday. Boston could see 8 to 12 inches of accumulation by Monday night. Winds may gust as high as 47 mph Monday, creating blowing snow and sharply reduced visibility. Travel along I-95, the Mass Pike and Route 1 could deteriorate quickly by early Monday.

Temperatures hover near 33 degrees this morning with light snow and mist reported at Logan. Highs climb into the mid-30s today before dipping into the 20s tonight. A brief lull arrives Sunday with highs near 36, then snow intensifies after 10 p.m. Sunday. Plan errands early. Conditions may worsen fast after dark.

Heavy snow continues Monday with highs near 33. Wind-driven snow may create near-blizzard conditions at times. Coastal flooding is also possible during high tide cycles. Secure loose outdoor items and charge devices now.
