Sacramento, California – A stretch of milder air could bring a noticeable late-winter warm-up to Northern California beginning Thursday, Feb. 26, as above-average temperatures settle across the region through Monday, March 2.

According to NOAA’s 6- to 10-day outlook issued Friday, above-normal temperatures are favored across much of the Southwest and California during the Thursday-to-Monday period, while precipitation trends near seasonal averages in Northern California. That setup supports comfortable afternoons without a strong signal for prolonged storm activity.

Across the Sacramento Valley, highs may climb into the upper 60s and low 70s, including in Sacramento, Davis and Woodland. In Redding and Red Bluff, afternoon temperatures could run 5 to 10 degrees above late-February averages, especially under periods of sunshine. The Bay Area, including San Francisco and Oakland, may see mild afternoons in the 60s with cooler conditions near the coast.

Rainfall appears limited to passing systems rather than widespread soaking events. While the Sierra Nevada could see occasional light precipitation at higher elevations, no significant multi-day storm signal is strongly indicated at this time.

Drivers along I-5 and Highway 99 should still monitor for patchy morning fog in valley locations if skies clear overnight and winds remain light. The milder pattern is expected to hold through March 2, with additional updates if stronger Pacific systems begin organizing offshore.
