Port Washington, Wisconsin – A community food drive honoring a fallen deputy is underway in Ozaukee County, supporting local families in need.

The Adam J. Hartwig Memorial and the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office are collecting shelf-stable food donations through Tuesday, March 18. The drive marks the upcoming 10th anniversary of Deputy Adam Hartwig’s End of Watch.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, donations can be dropped off in the Sheriff’s Office lobby at 1201 S. Spring Street in Port Washington. The lobby is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All collected items will benefit The Food Pantry Inc. of Port Washington.

Officials said the pantry is especially in need of nonperishable items including Hamburger Helper, canned meats, canned yams, pie filling, boxed potatoes, cake mixes, canned frosting and shaped pasta. Additional requested items include vegetable oil, canned dinners, boxed cereal, pancake mix, syrup, beans, condiments, tissues and body wash.

Organizers said every donation helps support local families while honoring Deputy Hartwig’s commitment to service.

The food drive may be especially relevant for local students and young families seeking community service opportunities or donation efforts.

Officials encourage residents to contribute before the March 18 deadline.
