St. Louis County, MO – A man was killed early Thursday after an officer-involved shooting during a standoff in Overland.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, officers responded around 2:45 a.m. Friday to an assault in the 9400 block of Côte Brilliante Avenue. Police made contact with the victim nearby, who told officers his roommate had allegedly assaulted him.

An officer went to the residence and observed an adult male standing outside with a weapon. The officer heard a gunshot, and the suspect entered the home. Authorities then initiated a call for an armed and possibly barricaded suspect, positioning officers around the residence.

At approximately 2:55 a.m., officers reported seeing the suspect break a window and allegedly flourish a weapon from inside the home. A Woods Terrace police officer fired his service weapon.

Just after 5:30 a.m., the St. Louis County Tactical Operations Unit entered the residence and located the suspect, an adult male, deceased inside. No officers were physically injured. The victim from the initial assault call suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

The City of Overland Police Department requested that St. Louis County Police Bureau of Crimes Against Persons assume the investigation. Authorities said the Woods Terrace officer involved is 29 years old with eight years of law enforcement experience.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact St. Louis County Police at 636-529-8210.
