Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – Snow could begin late Saturday night across south-central Pennsylvania, with up to 6 inches possible before the Monday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from late Saturday night through Monday afternoon for Dauphin, Schuylkill, Lebanon, Adams, York, and Lancaster counties. Total snowfall between 4 and 6 inches is possible, though forecasters note that a westward shift in the storm track could increase totals.

Travel could become very difficult.

Major corridors including Interstate 83, Route 30, and Interstate 81 near Harrisburg and York may become snow-covered by early Monday. Secondary roads in Gettysburg, Lebanon, and Pottsville could see reduced visibility and slick conditions as snowfall rates increase overnight Sunday into Monday.

Residents should prepare vehicles and review travel plans before Saturday night. PennDOT crews are expected to monitor road conditions and stage equipment ahead of the system.

Snow may continue into Monday afternoon before tapering, with slick spots lingering into the evening hours. The Winter Storm Watch remains in effect through Monday afternoon as forecasters refine the storm track and snowfall projections.
