Rangeley, Maine – Snow will spread into western and coastal Maine and northern New Hampshire by 6 p.m., creating slick roads through the overnight hours and into the early Saturday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Gray, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. this evening until 7 a.m. EST Saturday for Northern Oxford and Franklin counties, Interior Waldo and Knox counties, Coastal Waldo County, and Northern Coos County in New Hampshire. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches are expected.
Road conditions will deteriorate after sunset.
Route 17 near Rangeley, U.S. Route 2 near Errol and Colebrook, and Route 1 along the Midcoast from Rockland to Belfast may become snow-covered overnight. Untreated secondary roads will turn slick as steady snowfall continues.
Bridges and overpasses will ice over first.
Communities including Camden, Rockport, Phillips, Kingfield and Unity should expect reduced visibility during periods of steadier snow.
