Derry, New Hampshire – State police are searching for a driver after a serious I-93 crash in Derry.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, troopers assigned to the Troop B barracks responded at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, to a report of a crash on Interstate 93 northbound near mile marker 96.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2025 Mazda CX-9, driven by Tyler Stafford, 38, of Taunton, Massachusetts, allegedly collided with the rear of another vehicle. The Mazda became disabled in the crash. Police said the driver of the other vehicle allegedly did not stop and left the scene.

Stafford suffered serious injuries and was transported to a regional hospital for treatment, according to state police.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by members of the Derry and Windham fire departments. The two right northbound lanes of I-93 were closed for approximately two hours during the investigation, prompting overnight traffic disruptions.

Investigators have received information indicating a tow truck may have been involved in the incident. Authorities are asking anyone with information that could help identify and locate the other vehicle to contact Trooper Nathan Belanger at Nathan.R.Belanger@dos.nh.gov.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The crash affected one of southern New Hampshire’s primary commuter corridors, impacting late-night drivers traveling between Manchester and the Massachusetts state line.
