Williston, North Dakota – A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 85 south of Williston seriously injured one driver Thursday morning.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 10:55 a.m. Thursday near mile marker 175.6, about seven miles south of Williston in McKenzie County.

Authorities said a 2007 Ford F-150 pulling a flatbed trailer was traveling northbound when it allegedly lost control on icy roads and crossed into the southbound lane. The Ford entered the path of a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound, striking the passenger side of the pickup in a T-bone crash.

The 66-year-old Ford driver from Arnegard sustained serious injuries and was transported to CHI St. Alexius Health in Williston before being flown to Trinity Health in Minot for further treatment.

The 33-year-old Chevrolet driver from Williston and a 26-year-old passenger from Austin, Texas, both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to CHI St. Alexius Health Williston Medical Center. Authorities reported the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Chevrolet driver was cited for allegedly driving without a license, while the vehicle owner was cited for allegedly driving without liability insurance. The crash remains under investigation.
