Boonville, N.Y. – Snow and freezing rain will intensify across Northern Oneida County this afternoon and continue overnight, creating hazardous road conditions through 7 a.m. EST Saturday, especially across Tug Hill.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Northern Oneida County. Total snow accumulations up to 4 inches are expected, along with around 0.20 inches of ice, mainly at higher elevations and east-facing slopes of Tug Hill.

Ice will cling to trees and power lines.

Route 12 near Boonville and Route 28 across elevated terrain may become snow-covered and slick before the Friday evening commute. Heavier icing is most likely on the eastern slopes, while lower elevations and the western slope from Camden down toward Oneida Lake will see lighter accumulations.

Road conditions could deteriorate quickly after sunset.

What residents should do now: Slow down, allow extra travel time, and check 511NY for updated road conditions before heading out this evening.

Precipitation is expected to taper toward daybreak Saturday as temperatures gradually rise above freezing. The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. EST Saturday.
