Los Angeles, California – Slippery travel and gusty winds are impacting the Interstate 5 corridor through Tejon Pass before sunrise Friday, with hazardous conditions expected to continue until 7 a.m. PST.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Interstate 5 Corridor, Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains and Southern Ventura County Mountains. A previous Winter Storm Warning has been canceled, but light snow and gusts up to 40 mph continue across higher elevations, including Gorman, Pyramid Lake and the Tejon Pass.

Drivers over the Grapevine face reduced traction.

Blowing snow and brief bursts of precipitation may create slick stretches along I-5 near Gorman and Highway 33 near Rose Valley. Wind gusts to 40 mph could impact high-profile vehicles, especially on exposed ridges and mountain passes during the morning commute.

What residents should do now: Slow down, increase following distance and check California 511 for real-time road conditions before traveling through mountain areas.

Conditions are expected to improve shortly after sunrise as precipitation tapers and winds gradually weaken. The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. PST Friday.
