Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Snow continues across southeast and central Wisconsin this morning, with up to 3 inches and pockets of light ice creating slick stretches on I-94 and I-43 through 10 a.m. Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect as the heaviest band of snow shifts north and west of Milwaukee. Snow totals up to 3 inches are expected across much of the advisory area, with slightly higher amounts possible in Marquette and Green Lake counties.
Road conditions may worsen quickly during heavier bursts.
The back edge of the system will swing through mid-morning, bringing additional light snow and brief periods of freezing drizzle. I-41 from Fond du Lac to Milwaukee and US-45 into Washington County may see reduced visibility and slushy accumulation, especially on bridges and elevated ramps.
Madison and areas south toward the Illinois state line are seeing lighter precipitation after a northward shift in the storm track, prompting a downgrade from Winter Storm Warnings to Advisories.
Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport may experience minor ground delays if snowfall briefly intensifies before late morning.
Drivers should slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and check 511 Wisconsin for updated road conditions before the morning commute.
Precipitation tapers from southwest to northeast by late morning, with lingering slick spots possible into early afternoon as temperatures hover near freezing. Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect through midday Friday, with improving conditions expected by early afternoon.
