Bangor, Maine – Snow showers will move into the Bangor region tonight, with accumulating snow and gusty winds expected to impact I-95 and US-1 through early Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, light snow will develop across Downeast Maine and the Bangor area late tonight. While initial totals remain light, a stronger system arriving Monday into Monday night may bring measurable snowfall and wind gusts exceeding 30 mph, especially along the coast and across Hancock and Washington counties.

Travel conditions may worsen after midnight Monday.

Snow showers tonight will be scattered, but steadier precipitation is possible Monday afternoon into the overnight hours as a strengthening coastal system tracks near the Gulf of Maine. Portions of Downeast Maine, including Ellsworth and Bar Harbor, could see accumulating snow with blowing snow reducing visibility on exposed roadways such as ME-3 and coastal stretches of US-1.

Farther north toward Caribou and Presque Isle, lighter totals are expected, though brief slick spots may develop before sunrise Tuesday if temperatures fall into the 20s.

Drivers should monitor updated road conditions and prepare for reduced visibility during heavier snow bands Monday night.

Another round of snow is likely late Wednesday into Wednesday night, with a possible rain-snow mix along the coast Thursday as temperatures moderate. Wind gusts above 30 mph remain possible Monday night, particularly near the shoreline. Winter weather advisories may be issued as confidence increases, with impacts potentially lasting into early Tuesday.
