Jackson, Kentucky – Rain will return overnight Saturday and change to a rain-snow mix before daybreak Sunday, creating slick spots on KY-15 and the Hal Rogers Parkway as temperatures fall into the upper 20s to mid-30s.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, showers taper off Friday morning before a second round of rain redevelops late Saturday. As colder air pushes into eastern Kentucky overnight, rain will mix with and change to snow, especially in higher elevations. Highs Saturday reach the upper 40s to upper 50s before dropping sharply overnight.
Road conditions may worsen before sunrise Sunday.
Snow showers continue Sunday with afternoon highs only in the 30s near 40 degrees. Light accumulations are possible on grassy and elevated surfaces, particularly along KY-80, US-23, and portions of I-75 near London. While widespread heavy accumulation is not expected, brief bursts of snow could reduce visibility and create slick bridges.
Temperatures fall into the low to mid-20s Sunday night, allowing any leftover moisture to refreeze on untreated roads. Snow showers taper off Monday, though highs remain in the low to mid-30s.
Drivers should reduce speed late Saturday night and check Kentucky Transportation Cabinet road updates before the Sunday morning commute.
A gradual warming trend begins Tuesday with highs rebounding into the upper 30s to mid-40s under a mix of sun and clouds. No winter storm warnings are currently in effect, but minor travel impacts may persist through Monday morning.
