Minnesota’s North Shore is waking up to a fresh dusting as light snow sweeps across Duluth this morning. Flakes are drifting sideways in northwest winds, and untreated roads are already turning slick.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, up to 2 inches of snow may accumulate today across the tip of the Arrowhead and into northwest Wisconsin. Additional accumulation into Saturday could bring up to 3 more inches over the Iron County snowbelt.

Slippery conditions may develop quickly.

At Sky Harbor Airport, temperatures hover near 18 degrees with wind chills around 5 below zero. Northwest winds between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph, are producing areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility along I-35 and Highway 61.

Drivers should allow extra stopping distance.

Highs reach only 29 degrees today under partly sunny but blustery skies. Snow tapers tonight, with lows dropping to 14 degrees. Saturday brings another chance of flurries and a high near 25.

Sunday turns sharply colder. Highs struggle near 21 degrees, and temperatures plunge to around 3 degrees Sunday night under clearing skies.

That deep freeze could create icy patches by early Monday.

Monday stays mostly sunny but cold, with highs near 19 degrees. A slight chance of snow returns Monday night into Tuesday, when highs rebound toward 30 with breezy south winds.

By midweek, temperatures moderate into the lower 30s, hinting at gradual late-February easing. The 6–10 day outlook favors near to slightly above normal readings, signaling slow progress toward early spring.

Five-Day Outlook for Duluth:

  • Saturday: High 25°, chance of flurries.
  • Sunday: High 21°, cold and breezy.
