Minneapolis, Minnesota – Below-normal temperatures will hold across the Twin Cities through the weekend, with morning lows dropping into the 10 to 15 degree range and afternoon highs struggling between 15 and 30 degrees, potentially creating slick spots on I-94 and I-35W before sunrise Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, cloudy skies will persist Friday with lingering flurries mainly across western Minnesota. Quiet conditions dominate Saturday and Sunday, but temperatures will remain 10 to 20 degrees below seasonal averages.

Cold pavement temperatures may refreeze melted snow.

Drivers along I-94 from Minneapolis to St. Cloud and along I-35W through downtown Minneapolis could encounter isolated icy patches during early morning hours, especially on bridges and untreated ramps. Western Minnesota, including areas near Willmar and Marshall along US-212, will see the coolest readings.

Highs Friday and Saturday range from the upper teens to upper 20s, with overnight lows dipping into the single digits and teens. Winds remain light, limiting blowing snow concerns but reinforcing the cold feel during the morning commute.

What residents should do now: Dress in layers, allow extra warm-up time for vehicles, and watch for black ice on shaded roadways before sunrise.

Quiet weather continues into Monday with similar temperature ranges. No winter weather advisories are currently in effect, but cold conditions will persist through early next week before gradual moderation midweek.
