Michigan drivers in Gaylord are watching wet pavement turn slushy as rain mixes with snow across Otsego County this morning. Fog hangs low near M-32, and temperatures hover at 33 degrees at Gaylord Regional Airport.

Rain is transitioning to snow.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, rain and a wintry mix will change to accumulating snow through the day across northern Lower Michigan and parts of the eastern Upper Peninsula. Minor accumulations are expected, with localized totals between 1 and 3 inches possible in heavier bands.

Road conditions may deteriorate quickly.

Snow showers continue on and off through tonight, with temperatures slipping to around 27. East winds near 15 mph add a biting edge. Drivers along I-75 and US-131 should plan for reduced visibility in bursts of snow.

Slow down before conditions worsen.

Saturday brings more scattered snow showers and a high near 29. Light accumulation remains possible. Sunday stays mostly cloudy with another 50 percent chance of snow and a high near 27. Even light snow could create slick stretches, especially where melting occurs during daylight hours and refreezes after sunset. This is prime time for flash freezing on untreated roads.

Monday turns colder with highs near 19 and continued snow shower chances. Lows drop into the single digits by Monday night.

By midweek, temperatures rebound into the lower 30s, with highs nearing the upper 30s to low 40s later next week. The 6–10 day outlook leans toward milder readings, hinting at gradual spring warmth across northern Michigan.
